Writetober 2024, Horror Haven: Day 30: Ghost of the Globe

Jay was having a really weird day. His thoughts were racing, a whirlwind of ideas and doubts swirling in his mind. It was like someone was controlling his thoughts, whispering suggestions and planting doubts.

"Why am I so tired?" he'd think, and then, poof, he'd be yawning uncontrollably. Or, "Maybe I should just give up on this project," and suddenly, his motivation would plummet.

At first, he'd brushed it off as stress or a lack of sleep. But as the days passed, the intrusions became more frequent and bizarre. He'd find himself humming a tune he'd never heard before, or craving a specific food he'd never even considered.

One day, while he was alone in the library, a disembodied voice echoed through the room, "You should really try that new energy drink. It'll give you the boost you need." Jay's eyes widened in surprise.

"Who's there?" he shouted, but the voice just chuckled. "It's me, the ghost in the globe, of course! I've been helping you out."

Jay stared at the spot where the voice seemed to originate from, a dusty old globe. A mischievous glint appeared in the globe's eye.

"You're a ghost?" Jay asked, incredulously.

"A comedic one, at that," the ghost replied, exerting itself from the globe to stand in front of him. "And don't worry, I'm not evil. Just a bit of harmless fun."
