Writetober Prompts Wave One

Happy early October. Listed below is wave one of our prompts for this year's Writetober! Feel free to interpret these prompts anyway you'd like. Enjoy, and as always, happy writing!

• Prompt: A character discovers a hidden room in their own home that they don't seem to be able to control.

Day 2: Wednesday, October 2

• Prompt: A vampire attempts to adjust to modern human life, but their attempts at socializing always end.. comedically.

Day 3: Thursday, October 3

• Prompt: A ghost is permanently bound to a deserted amusement park, longing for the days when it was filled with joy and whimsy.

Day 4: Friday, October 4

• Prompt: A young woman thinks her new neighbor is a serial killer.

Day 5: Saturday, October 5

• Prompt: A character receives a series of random texts that seem to mirror their deepest fears they've never shared.

Day 6: Sunday, October 6

• Prompt: A character begins to suspect their doppelganger is haunting them.

Day 7: Monday, October 7

• Prompt: A zombie attempts to join a human support group to make friends, but their undead nature makes it difficult to relate.

• Prompt: A local (seemingly) innocent children's game turns lethal when a group of teenagers discover its origins.

• Prompt: A character questions reality as they begin to believe life is a simulation.

• Prompt: A zombie apocalypse breaks out in suburbia, but the protagonists are more concerned with the inconvenience of having to deal with undead neighbors.

• Prompt: A character must choose between saving their own life or that of a loved one.

• Prompt: A character becomes convinced that their smartphone is haunted.
